2019 has been a year of many social issues and reckonings that have been years in the making, specifically the empowerment of women in the corporate world and the importance of income equality across the board.
Now that we have shaped the story and created an environment for ourselves to discuss these matters, it’s time to take the necessary steps to make women empowerment in the business world a thing of practice. Here are some ways to empower women in business.
Invest
If you have the means, seek out investment funds specifically meant for advancing the ideas of women on a global scale, that will then provide loans for businesses owned by women. Alternatively, get in contact with fellow female entrepreneurs and hear what exciting businesses or ideas they may have on the horizon that could use some funding. Help them bridge the gap to their dreams and support them along the way.
Investing in women can also be done on a much smaller scale for those who may not have the means to invest by simply conducting research into finding women-owned business and shops within your area. Shopping at stores owned by women is equally important as the investments needed to get the business up and running in the first place to ensure the business will be profitable and remain open.
Set Up A Sponsor
As a woman, having a female mentor at your job or place of employment can help give you an inside look at the inner workings of that business. If you’re looking to take it a step further, consider setting up a sponsor to offer career advice in offering company contributions at a strategic level instead. Sponsors are a great resource to have in your corner fighting for you and your advancement.
Stand Up For Each Other
The single most important aspect of empowering women in the business world and in your everyday life is to stand up for other women. Speaking up as an individual when you notice something happening in your place of work that has a negative impact on the women at the company. When comfortable, speak up for other women when you hear them being put down. Women need to use their voices to empower each other.
The true empowerment of women cannot be achieved without the help of women! If you want to change the world, it’s time to take the necessary steps to empower yourself, your friends, and your co-workers by investing in women, and standing up for one another.
